Most Profitable Control Panel
Internet Business Box
The Internet Business Box currently supports web-sites hosted using any of the following three very popular control panels:
Cpanel
Ensim
Plesk
Our average earnings across all three platforms is $314.28 per month as of March 1, 2010.
But which one is most profitable?
The control panel used really shouldn't affect profitability directly, but it still possible to calculate all of the indirect impacts on profitability (without knowing the actual indirect factors involved).
Here are the numbers:
Ensim: $582.22
Cpanel: $360.06
Plesk: $128.51
We found it interesting that there was so much impact. The actual factors involved are probably too difficult to track down.
But we did cancel all of our Plesk hosting and moved it to Ensim or Cpanel hosting.
We recommend that you do the same. We will continue to support Plesk, but we obviously won't have any way to test each new version on Plesk powered servers since we no longer host sites on any Plesk powered servers.
What do you think? How can a control panel that the software never even sees affect profitability so much?
Is it the name of the folder that is used for publicly viewable files (that the IBB software can see)?
Is it general speed of servers that are hobbled with resource intensive control panel software?
Is it the web hosts themselves and how they organize their data centers and what choices they make for control panel software supported?
Is it because some control panels are the targets of hackers and denial of service attacks?
Is it because of the cost of each control panel and how that impacts hosting costs and therefore affects the quality of customer attracted by the web host?
It's impossible to say, but it is possible to calculate which control panels are most profitable.
Now to find some other reliable hosting companies who still support Ensim. Anybody know of any?
